why a blog? and why this name?

I have been pondering the idea of beginning a personal blog for a few months now. We have a family blog which is wonderful, but for our family. I have my facebook page which is a fun way to stay in touch with friends and family, but not really a place for reflection. I have my own journal but that, of course, is more private. Yet I feel that in this season of my life God is teaching me things and that this is the 'legacy' stage of my life, a time when I want to be writing down some thoughts and reflections that are important to me. So I will try this out for size--and maybe it will be a keeper! I don't really know who will want to read it, perhaps it will only be for me for now, and that is ok too.

As to the name of this blog. I have been reading a fascinating book written by a nun, called Wisdom Distilled from the Daily-Living the Rule of St. Benedict Today. I don't really know anything about St. Benedict but I am loving the book so far. One of the chapters is entitled "The Unboundaried Heart"--it struck a cord with me. I want to have an unboundaried heart, of course in the best sense of its meaning, a heart that is open and willing to let others in, a heart that is hospitable and welcoming at its core, a heart that reflects the love of God and does not set up toadblocks that keep others out. It is good to have boundaries on our time, on our energy, about things we are not willing to compromise, but not a boundaried heart. So that is the name of this blog. I hope the name will remind me to think about that idea every time I write.
